Amitabh Bachchan is a legendary Indian Film actor, who most popularly known as icon of Bollywood film industry. He was born on 11th October, 1942, Allahabad, India. His father Dr. Harivansh Rai, who renowned Hindi poet and his mother Teji Bachchan was a Sikh socialite. He has one younger brother named Ajitabh. He is an alumnus of Sherwood College, Nainital. Later on he attended Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, where he graduated in Arts. In the year 1973, he married to Bollywood actress Jaya Bhaduri and they have two children. Their daughter Shweta Nanda who is married to businessman Nikhil Nanda and his son, Abhishek Bachchan, who is also a film actor and he had tied knot with beautiful B-Town actress Aishwarya Rai. In the year 1969, Amitabh Bachchan made his big screen  debut with the flick ‘Saat Hindustani’. Then he appeared in Anand (1971), in which he starred alongside legendary actor Rajesh Khanna. For this film he garnered his first Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actor. In that same year he appeared in films like ‘Parwaana’, ‘Reshma Aur Shera’, ‘Guddi’. In the year 1972, he was seen in road action comedy flick ‘Bombay to Goa’. Thereafter, in the year 1973, he reached to the peak of huge success and fame with Prakash Mehara’s directorial venture’ Zanjeer’, in which he launching Amitabh to stardom as an action movie hero. By the early 1970’s he had earned popularity with audience as ‘angry young man’ in a series of successful Hindi feature movies. His performance in films such as ‘Deewar’, ‘Laawaris’, ‘Coolie’, ‘Naseeb’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Shaarabi’ & ‘Jaadugar ‘continued to enamor fans of the tall & handsome action hero, and also landed him multiple prestigious awards. Referred to as “Shahenshah of Bollywood“, “Star of the Millennium” or “Big B”, he has acted in over 180 Indian flicks in a career spanning more than four decades. He also dominated silver screen with blockbuster movies like ‘Trishul’,’ Sholay’ & ‘Chashme Buddoor’. He was a member of the Indian Parliament from 1984 to 1987. In addition to acting, he has also worked as a playback singer, producer as well as television presenter. In the 2000, he hosted first season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which was an Indian adaptation of the British television game show called’ Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’. The show was garnered huge success. Thereafter he also hosted third, fourth, and sixth version of this respective show. He also hosted 3rd season of Indian reality show ‘Bigg Boss’.  In the year 2014, he debuted in fictional called ‘Yudh’ which aired on Sony TV channel. In the following years he was seen in several movies like ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ , ‘Baghban’, ‘Aks’, ‘Aankhen’, ‘Khakee’, ‘Black’, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Sarkar’,’ Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’, ‘Cheeni Kum’, ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’,’ Bhoothnath’, ‘Paa’,’ The Bhoothnath Returns’,’Piku’- for this film he won fourth National Film award for Best Actor & 3rd Filmfare Critics award for Best Actor. He also made his Hollywood debut with the film ‘The Great Gatsby’ (2013).Since, 2010,he is brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism. For his spectacular work in Bollywood industry, Government Of India, awarded him with the prestigious Padma Shri in the year 1984, Padma Bhushan(2001) and Padma Vibhushan (2005). Also the Government of France honoured him with its highest civilian honour, Knight of the Legion of Honour (2007).
