AmeriCorps was founded as a result of the National Service Act signed into law in 1990. One of the many options to consider when contemplating serving with AmeriCorps is loan forbearance. If you apply and are eligible for this program, you can delay paying back student loans through the duration of your service and at the end of your service, the National Service Trust will pay the interest that was accrued during your time serving.
