Delaware Financial Aid Facts:
Delaware offers some options for paying for college, including need-based aid. These are all state offered programs for Delaware residents that attend Delaware schools.
- Scholarship Incentive Program (ScIP) – Need-based aid based for full-time students as indicated on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards range from $700 to $2,220, depending on GPA.
- Governor's Workforce Development Grant – Aid for full or part time employees. Students must be employed by a company in Delaware and the company must contribute to the Blue Collar Training Fund Program.
Cost of Tuition:
Sallie Mae estimates that a Delaware resident, attending a school in Delaware, will spend about $12,496 in their first year of school between the cost of tuition, room and board, and other expenditures. This is an estimate of colleges and universities across Delaware.

Recent Legislation:
The University of Delaware increased its tuition costs by 5.1 percent in just one year. UD President Patrick T. Harker said he still feels the university is a “bargain” for out-of-state students because of its economic value. He noted that “Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine listed UD 10th among the best values for out-of-state students and 15th best for in-state students.”
