How To Vote

Don't Stop at the Top!!

Got Tuition's Easy Guide to Voting the Whole Ballot

Voting for President is critically important, but so is voting all the way down the ballot.  Members of Congress, Governors, and State Legislators all play a critical role in deciding how much financial aid is available for students and families.  So Don’t Stop at the Top—follow this easy guide to be an informed voter!

1) Are you and your facebook friends registered to vote?

Find out by using our facebook application or Vote Poke.

2) When and where are you going to vote?

Some states allow early voting, others allow absentee voting, others allow registration and voting all on the same day.  Whatever you do, find out NOW how you are going to vote and where.  Click here for more information: http://www.rockthevote.com/electioncenter/

Different states have different election deadlines. Click here for an easy to read chart.

3) Who and what is on your ballot?

A large number of voters stop voting down the ballot because they don’t recognize the names of the candidates.  Don’t let this happen to you!  Find out who is running for office by going to: http://www.rockthevote.com/electioncenter/.  Rock the Vote will link you to your state’s election information.

Print out the list of candidates running for President, US House and US Senate, and State Legislative offices….proceed to step four.

4) Where do they stand on the issues?

Check out our candidate position page for information about candidates and college affordability.

But don't stop there! For information about other candidates or voting records about other issues, go to Project Vote Smart and enter your zip code.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Project Vote Smart only contains voting information for officials who are currently in office.  If you want information about the people running against these incumbents, check the candidates’ websites.
