Ghattamaneni Mahesh Babu is one of the most charming actors of Tollywood Industry. He is Indian actor, producer, media personality as well as philanthropist which is most popularly known for his brilliant work in the Telugu cinema. He was born on 9th August, 1975, in Chennai. He is son of Telugu Cinema Actor Krishna Ghattamaneni and Smt. Indira Devi. He is younger brother of actor as well as produced Ramesh Babu Ghattamaneni. Also he also has two elder sisters such as Padmavathi and actress-producer Manjula Ghattamaneni & one younger sister Priyadarshini. Mahesh Babu’s childhood was mostly spent in Madras under the care of his grandmother Smt. Durgamma. Mahesh Studied at Bede’s School in Chennai. He obtained an Honours Degree in Commerce from Loyola College, Chennai. He running production house named as G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. At the age of four, he made his debut as a child artist in ‘Needa’ (1979) which was the debut movie of his brother and then acted in 8 other films as a child artist.
He made his debut as a lead actor with film ‘Rajakumarudu’ (1999) and also won the Nandi Award for Best Male Debut followed by’ Yuvaraju’ (2000) & ‘Vamsi’ (2000). For his acting in’ Murari’ (2001), he received a Nandi Special Jury Award. Mahesh brilliantly performed the role of a cowboy in’ Takkari Donga’ (2002), for which he won another Nandi Special Jury Award. He was also appeared in’ Bobby’ (2002). His next movie ‘Okkadu ‘(2003) remains as a landmark movie in his career. He won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for this flick. Then he was seen He was then seen in ‘Naani’ (2004) which was produced by his sister Manjula & ‘Arjun’ (2004) produced by his brother. He bagged a Nandi Special Jury Award for movie ‘Arjun’. In year 2005, He married Namrata Shirodkar after being in a relationship with her for almost five years. He also was seen in ‘Athadu’ (2005) for which he once again won the Nandi Award for Best Actor. His next movie, ‘Pokiri’ (2006) was became the highest grossing Telugu movie in 75 Years & he earned his 2nd Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for this film. The movie was followed by ‘Sainikudu’ (2006), ‘Athidi’ (2007) & Khaleja (2010). He also lent his voice for the movie ‘Jalsa’ (2008). Mahesh’s next release was Dookudu in 2011 which broke many records in the Telugu film industry. The film grabbed the largest worldwide opening & had set highest record at the box office by collecting more than 1 billion rupees. He was next appeared in ‘Business Man’ (2012) which was similar to his previous release, and took the largest worldwide opening. After the big success of these two flicks he became highest paid actor of Tamil Industry after Rajnikanth. Also he was awarded as 5th most Desirable Men for the year 2011 by the Times of India. He was the highest earning south Indian celebrity in year 2012. Mahesh Babu was ranked 31st on business magazine Forbes India’s Celebrity’s 100 list.
