Rajinikanth is legendary Indian Film actor, who better known for his acting in Tamil Cinema. He was in Marathi family to Ramabai and Ramoji Rao Gaekwad, a police constable, on born 12th December, 1950, in Bangalore, Mysore State, India. He was named Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. He is youngest of four siblings in a family, consisting of two elder brothers namely, Satyanarayana Rao and Nageshwara Rao, and a sister , Aswath Balubhai. On 26th February, 1981 he married to Latha Rangachari and they have two daughters named Aishwarya Rajinikanth & Soundarya Rajinikanth. Aishwarya married to Tamil Film actor Dhanush. And, his younger daughter, Soundarya works in Tamil industry as a director, producer & graphics designer. He went on to become a Tamil megastar and he is most popular as one of the highest earning actor by his hard work, perseverance and sheer grit. Despite being Tamil superstar, he worshipped like a God by his fans. He is not a Tamilian by birth but, a Maharashtrian. Before pursuing diploma in acting field from Madras Film Institute, he worked as a bus conductor with Bangalore Transport Service. Rajinikanth began his career in Tamil Industry with debut film ‘Apoorva Raagangal’(1975) alongside Kamal Hassan. In that same year, K. Balachander gave him his break into mainstream Tamil cinema called ‘Srividya’. He acted in the Kannada movie, ‘Katha Sangama’ (1976), Telegu film, ‘Anthuleni Katha’ (1976), ‘Avargal’ (1976), ‘Moondru Mudichu’(1976) & ‘16 Vayadhinile’ (1976). He also established himself as a villain. His first break as a lead actor came with the Telegu flick, ‘Chilakamma Cheppindi’ (1977). He also appeared in ‘Sahodarara Savaal’, ‘Kumkuma Rakshe’, ‘Thoreyi Gadichindi’,’ Annadammula Savaal’. His first positive role was in ‘Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri’ (1977). ‘Bairavi’ (1978) was the first Tamil movie in which he played a solo hero role. He made his Malayalam debut with ‘Allauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum’ (1979). Then he went on to act in ‘Dharma Yuddham’ (1979), ‘Tiger’ (1979) sharing screen space along with N.T. Rama Rao, ‘Garjanai’ (1981) & youthful movies such as ‘Ninaithale Inikkum, Priya’ & ‘Amma Evarikkaina Amma’. Thereafter, he was appeared in ‘Billa’, which was remake of Hindi film ‘Don’. The film worked successfully at the box office. Once he went to a peak of success after delivering some hit movies like,’ Murattu Kaalai’, ‘Netrika’, ‘Thillu Mullu’ and many others. He also acted Bollywood films like ‘Jeet Hamaari’, ‘Gangvaa’, ‘John Jani Janardhan’, ‘Bhagwaan Dada’, ‘Insaaf Kaun Karega’,’ Chaalbaaz’ &’ Tyagi’. In the 80s & 90s he continued to appeared in several bos office hits such as ‘Padikkathaavaan’, ‘Mr. Bharath’, ‘Velaikaran’,’ Dharmathin Thalaivan’, ‘Thalapathy’, ‘Mannan’, ‘Annamalai’, ‘Veera ‘& ‘Badsha’. Then his performance was praised in ‘Chadramukhi’ and ‘Sivaji’, where both these movies became major blockbusters. Then in year 2010, he appeared in ‘Endhiran’, which was India’s costliest film, it also emerged as highest grossing film of that year. He was acted in ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ (2014) alongside B-town ac.tress Deepika Padukone and in that same year he appeared opposite to Sonakshi Sinha in ‘Lingaa’. Rajinikanth’s next is a mob flick titled ‘Kabali’, directed by Pa. Ranjith & produced by S. Than, which will be released on 22nd July, 2016. The Government of India has admired him with the prestigious Padma Bhushan in year 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in year 2016 for his valuable contributions to the arts.
