Sharman Joshi

Sharman Joshi is an Indian film as well as theatre actor. He had been involved in several stage productions in Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi and English languages but better known for his work in Hindi cinema. He was born on 28th April, 1979, in Mumbai, India. He belongs to a Gujarati family which enriched actors as well as performing artists. His father, Arvind Joshi is known as a famous and experienced personality of Gujarati theatre. His aunt Sarita Joshi and his cousins worked in Marathi as well as Gujarati theatre. And his sister Manasi Joshi, who is also television actress and married to actor Rohit Roy. Sharman tied knot with Prerana Chopra who is a daughter of famous actor Prem Chopra. And the couple have three children. He has appeared in Gujarati versions popular play ‘All the Best’ where he played a deaf role and this show did more than 500 shows in a period of three years. In the year 1999, he made his acting debut with Vinay Shukla’s directorial venture ‘Godmother’ which also starred Shabana Azmi, Nirmal Pandey & Milind Gunaji. Then in the year 2001, he appeared in ‘Style’, directed by N. Chandra, alongside Shilpi Mudgal, Riya Sen and Sahil Khan. He was next seen in sequel of style named ‘Xcuse Me’(2003) also starring Sahil Khan, Jaya Seal & Sonali Joshi. Thereafter in year 2005 he acted in David Dhawan’s ‘Shaadi No. 1’. Then in following year he did Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s drama film ‘Rang De Basanti’ and the flick was nominated as 2006’s BAFTA Awards for the category of the Best Foreign Language Film. Later that year he featured in Rohit Shetty’s comedy flick ‘Golmaal’. Next up in the year 2007 he appeared in some movies such as ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘Dhol’ and ‘Raqeeb’. Then he was seen in ‘Hello’(2008) and ‘Sorry Bhai!’(2008). In the year 2009 he worked in comedy drama flick ‘3 Idiots’ which was the highest grossing Hindi film of all time in overseas market. For the film he earned IIFA Best Supporting Actor Award. In that very same year he hosted a game show  called ‘PokerFace: Dil Sachcha Chehra Jhootha’ at  Real TV.Then he was acted in several other flicks such as ‘Toh Baat Pakki!’(2010), ‘Allah Ke Banday’(2010), ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’(2012), ‘3 Bachelors’(2012), ‘War Chod Na Yaar’(2013), ‘Gang of Ghosts’ (2014), ‘Super Nani’(2014), ‘Hate Story 3’(2015), ‘1920 London’ (2016).
